2. Step-by-Step Construction Tutorial
Step 1: Build the Basic Looping Pulse Circuit (Power Core)
1. Place a lever on the ground as the main power switch for the entire device.
2. Put a redstone comparator in front of the lever and right-click it to switch to subtraction mode.
3. Place 2 redstone repeaters in opposite directions around the comparator, and set all of them to the maximum 3-tick delay.
4. Extend and place 4 more redstone repeaters, then connect the entire circuit with redstone dust. This creates a stable looping pulse that provides a steady rhythm for the beating heart.
Step 2: Vertical Observer Pillar & Sound Module (Heartbeat Sound Source)
1. Starting from the end of the pulse circuit, stack 7 observers vertically with all arrow faces pointing upward to ensure smooth upward signal transmission.
2. Place note blocks on the outer side of each layer of the observer pillar. Hold the sneak key while placing redstone dust on top of the note blocks to connect the circuit without breaking the blocks.
3. Symmetrically replicate the same observer and note block structure on all four sides of the central pillar. The looping circuit will continuously trigger the note blocks to produce regular heartbeat sounds.
Step 3: Obsidian Base Frame & Piston Power Layer
1. Take the central observer pillar as the center, and build a neat square base frame with obsidian blocks to stabilize the whole structure.
2. Evenly place sticky pistons on the second and third layers of the frame, with all pistons facing outward uniformly.
3. Cover the top of all obsidian blocks with redstone dust to connect the pulse circuit signals from below, ensuring all pistons extend and retract synchronously.
Step 4: Dynamic Expansion Appearance Module (Beat Effect)
1. Place honey blocks on the front of each outward sticky piston. The pushing and pulling motion of the pistons creates the overall expansion and contraction beating effect of the heart.
2. Lay red glazed terracotta or red concrete on the outside of the honey blocks to form the main red outline of the heart.
3. Add glow ink blocks at the four corners for embellishment, making the beating light and shadow effect more delicate and visible at night.
Step 5: Assemble the 3D Heart Outer Shell
1. Stack red blocks delicately to build a 3D heart outline that fully encloses all internal redstone machinery.
2. Fill the gaps of the heart shape with solid building blocks to hide the internal circuits and mechanical parts, leaving only the dynamic beating red outer surface exposed.
3. You can add glass fences around the heart as decoration. It will not block the piston movement and can greatly improve the overall appearance.
3. Activation & Effect Introduction
1. Flip the bottom lever to activate the looping pulse circuit. The sticky pistons will continuously extend and retract, driving the red outer heart layer to expand and contract to achieve a vivid beating effect.
2. The matched note blocks are triggered synchronously, producing steady “thump-thump” heartbeat sounds, bringing an immersive visual and auditory dual heartbeat effect.
3. Flip the bottom lever again to cut off the circuit and stop the device.
4. Common Mistakes & Tips
1. Always hold the sneak key when placing redstone dust on note blocks, or the note blocks will be broken directly.
2. All observers must face straight upward. Wrong orientation will cause the pulse circuit to fail and stop working.
3. For Minecraft Bedrock Edition players, replace part of the coal blocks with obsidian to avoid redstone bugs and device malfunction.
4. Set all repeaters to 3-tick delay to ensure a uniform and smooth heartbeat rhythm for the best visual effect.
